OUT OF SCHOOL TIME-Youth Leader
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth Leader will be mentored by Site Support Staff and is responsible for implementing program curriculum and performing other tasks as needed. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and fostering relationships among youth and within families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist in implementing curriculum within the established guidelines.
2. Nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
3. Assist in supervising the children, classroom, and all activities, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follow all procedures and standards.
4. Assist in making ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Cultivate positive relationships, conduct parent conferences, and maintain effective communication with parents. Engage parents as volunteers and connect them to the YMCA.
6. Assist in maintaining the program site and equipment.
7. Assist in maintaining required program records.
8. Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
9. Assume lead role in the absence of the lead staff.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law (if the state sets requirements. The YMCA should establish minimum qualification standards if the state has
