The Licensing & Business Development Specialist supports the Head of Business Development to drive LAIKA’s licensing program, facilitate contract management and distribution, and support special project research and execution.
This will be a temporary position.
Job Functions
Consumer Product Licensing:
- Drive licensing pipeline under direction of Head of Business Development.
- Primary point-of-contact with LAIKA’s licensing agents, including reviewing proposed licensing agreement terms, managing licensee and retail partner accounts, and representing the studio at key licensing trade shows (Licensing Expo, Toy Fair, etc.).
- Oversee administration of licensing management software, Flowhaven, inclusive of licensee account creation, workflow tracking, agreement terms, creative asset management, and royalty report verification and tracking.
- Collaborate with Consumer Products team to ensure licensee product submissions are reviewed and relayed back to licensees in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Partner with Creative Marketing and Media Services to ensure design assets are available for licensing partners.
- Collaborate with Licensing Agents, Creative Marketing, and Product Development teams to coordinate delivery of IP-based style guides, trend packs, and asset packs to support licensees, retail partners, and internal product development.
- Support Head of Business Development to manage deal pipeline and terms approvals with third party distribution partners, including Shout! Studios, Park Circus, Fathom Events, and Anime LTD.
- Manage performance dashboard with data provided by distribution partners.
- Prepare quarterly performance reports for senior management.
- Support Head of Business Development to track agreement analysis and deal flow.
- Assist with market and competitive research for new business development initiatives.
- 3 years of relevant work experience in Licensing, Distribution, and/or Brand Management.
- Experience and familiarity with licensing business models, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to interact with internal departments and external agencies, and always demonstrating a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to work both individually and collaboratively.
