POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Financial Aid Office at Lake Area Technical College, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. This role provides strategic leadership in managing financial aid programs, facilitating access to education for students, and supporting institutional goals. The Director fosters a student-centered approach while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accuracy in financial aid administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial aid administration, with at least three years in a leadership role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in financial aid systems and software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
REPORTS TO: Dean of Student Services, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, including staff supervision, professional development, and performance management.
- Develop and implement financial aid policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
- Monitor and manage the financial aid budget, including allocations for scholarships, grants, work-study, and loan programs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations related to federal Title IV programs, state financial aid, and institutional scholarships.
- Prepare and submit required reports to federal and state agencies, including the FISAP, IPEDS, and other regulatory bodies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and accreditation reviews.
- Provide leadership in delivering financial aid counseling to students and families, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Oversee the processing of financial aid applications, award determinations, and disbursements.
- Coordinate financial literacy programs to help students make informed financial decisions.
- Work closely with Admissions, Registrar, Business Office, and other departments to ensure seamless student support.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff regarding financial aid policies and impacts on enrollment and retention.
- Represent Lake Area Technical College at recruitment events, community outreach, and professional associations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month contract with salary and benefits set by the Watertown School Board.
