JOB VACANCY: Media Specialist

Job Description-

The Media Specialist is responsible for managing, redacting, preparing, and processing digital video footage for the Lake County Sherriff’s Department.

Duties:

· Assist and prepare evidence for legal and public records requests

· Maintain Compliance with department policies, state laws, and federal regulations

· Copy, review, and redact video footage

· Maintain secure records for video evidence

· Retrieve and process video media from external sources

· Collaborate with staff to obtain video footage

· Document, catalog, and store digital files

· Utilize special software for video redaction and enhancement

· Maintain records and logs of video requests and redactions

· Train department personnel on proper procedures requesting and handling digital media

· Educate yourself on best practices, legal standards, and emerging technologies related to video evidence management

· And all duties assigned by the Lake County Sheriff

Education:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, media, IT, or a related field (preferred)

· Certification in digital evidence handling preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

· Office setting with occasional fieldwork

Experience:

· Experience working in a law enforcement or legal environment (preferred)

· Familiar with body worn cameras and in car video systems (preferred)

· Knowledge of legal requirements regarding video and public record laws (preferred)

Work Location:

· Lake County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force

Schedule

· Monday-Friday

· 8-hour shift

· May require working outside regular hours to ensure urgent requests or legal deadlines are met.
