Director of Field Operations

The Director of Field Operations is a pivotal executive role responsible for the oversight and successful execution of all construction projects undertaken by Lake Glass & Mirror. This position involves strategic leadership, ensuring that all projects align with the company's goals, meet high-quality standards, and are completed on time and within budget. The Director of Field Operations acts as an authority in construction management across the organization, driving excellence, innovation, and safety across all sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Company-Wide Project Oversight:

· Provide overarching leadership and strategic direction for all construction projects, ensuring they align with the company’s objectives and long-term vision.

· Establish and enforce uniform construction standards, procedures, and protocols across all projects, ensuring consistency in quality and performance.

· Monitor the progress of all ongoing projects, intervening as necessary to address challenges, reallocate resources, or adjust timelines.

Executive Leadership and Organizational Development:

· Lead the team of Superintendents and their crews, ensuring that all team members are aligned with the company’s strategic goals.

· Develop and implement training and development programs to build leadership capabilities within the construction team, ensuring succession planning and the growth of future leaders.

· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the construction organization.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

· Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term construction strategies, including project selection, resource planning, and technology adoption.

· Oversee the planning and execution of all construction projects, from inception to completion, ensuring they meet the company’s financial, quality, and timeline expectations.

· Implement and manage a comprehensive project management system to track project progress, identify potential issues early, and ensure timely delivery.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

· Serve as a point of contact for major clients and stakeholders, ensuring that their expectations are met or exceeded across all projects.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, government agencies, and industry partners, enhancing the company’s reputation to ensure future business.

· Lead negotiations on high-stakes contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management:

· Develop and enforce a company-wide safety culture, ensuring all projects adhere to the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements.

· Oversee compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, ensuring that all construction activities meet or exceed legal and environmental standards.

· Lead risk management efforts across all projects, including identifying potential risks, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring robust crisis management plans are in place.

Financial Oversight and Budget Management:

· Take overall responsibility for the financial performance of the company’s construction portfolio, including budget development, cost control, and profitability analysis.

· Implement financial controls and reporting systems to monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring that all projects are delivered within financial targets.

· Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and value engineering across all projects.

Innovation and Technology Integration:

· Champion the adoption of new construction technologies, methods, and materials that can enhance project efficiency, quality, and sustainability.

· Stay at the forefront of industry trends and innovations, ensuring the company remains competitive and can leverage new opportunities for growth.

· Lead initiatives to integrate advanced construction management software, data analytics, and automation into the company’s operations.

Performance Metrics and Continuous Improvement:

· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all projects and construction teams, ensuring continuous improvement in project delivery and outcomes.

· Conduct regular performance reviews and post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned across the organization.

· Promote a culture of excellence and accountability, where all team members are empowered to contribute to the company’s success.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years with a general contractor or experience in glass and glazing or other construction subcontractor. At least 8 years of leadership experience.
  • Proven track record in managing and successfully completing medium to large-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of glass types, glazing systems, and curtain walls a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, etc. are a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to address unexpected challenges.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities for client and stakeholder interactions.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable construction practices.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and strong experience with construction management software such as Procore.
