The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Police Department through the handling of non-criminal tasks in the uniform patrol division. This position acts under the supervision of the Sergeant / Shift Commander.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive nor are they ranked by order of importance. Other duties may be required and assignedEnforces local ordinances throughout the Village.Responds to animal complaints and serves as the animal control officer within the Village.Handles selected and approved non-criminal calls for service to include but not be limited to: Non-Injury Traffic Crash Reports, Found Property, Motorist Assists, Traffic Control, and Reports for InsuranceAssists the community Relations Division with various programs and activities.Assists the Patrol Division with traffic direction and crowd control during the community events.Serves as a school crossing guard when needed.Assists with vehicle and equipment maintenance and the transportation of department vehicles to service and repair locations.Documents the transfer, delivery, and/or service of various notices in the local area as needed.Performs data entry as assigned and needed.Completes reports as assigned and neededAssists in the dispatch center as needed.Other duties as assigned by the on duty Shift Commander.
