Essential Functions
-
Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to “exceed guest expectations”.

Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.

Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
-
Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.

Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.

Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.

Supervises and assists in cleaning the pool, related facilities and equipment; including restrooms, pool deck and loungers.

assists with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and adds chemicals to pool water as directed.

Instructs or assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed.

Resolves scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require use of aquatic facilities.

As necessary, assist and support the recreation concessions stand operations.

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor or the Human Resources department

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required to assure the success of Lake Junaluska mission.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
A minimum of 1 years relevant experience in lifeguarding.
-
Management experience is strongly preferred.
-
Hospitality experience strongly preferred. .
-
CPR/First Aid required. Reimbursement or on-the-job certification is offered.

Must have valid Water Safety/Lifeguard Certification

Valid Driver’s License
-
Must be able to communicate with Recreation Manager through a variety of communication methods, i.e. Email, text or phone
-
Must maintain a positive attitude and put the Guests needs as a top priority
-
Must have demonstrated good communication skills, client relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service
-
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures
-
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos.

Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, clients, and employees of the organization

Proven computer skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills is required

Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, clients and employee questions

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.

Working Conditions

Moderate to heavy physical activity performing strenuous and non strenuous activities with moderate to loud noise

Primarily working outdoors exposed to elements such as; heat, sun, cold, snow, rain and wind

Ability to coordinate work, continuously move about, able to stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, sit, manual dexterity to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms.

Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, talk to and hear staff and customer requests, and also lifts or otherwise move objects weighing up to 75 pounds

Must have adequate vision to carry out daily activities. Good peripheral vision is necessary.

Work schedule; Recreation area is open Monday – Sunday, with nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
