The Financial Analyst and Accounts Payable Specialist plays a critical role in managing the financial operations of the Association. This position is responsible for processing payments and balancing accounts, assisting in budget preparation and tracking of spending, and providing financial analysis to support the Association’s fiscal health and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to interpret financial data to make informed recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Management:
· Oversees Accounts Payable function. Reviews departmental check requests, with invoices and vouchers for payment.
· Interfaces with departments to ensure accounts payable information is adequate and complete.
· Obtains W-9 forms from vendors for 1099 reporting.
· Manages General Ledger account control systems for Accounts Payable.
· Manages Purchase Order approvals and tracking.
· Responsible for monthly account reconciliations for electronic fund transfers by vendors from bank account.
· Responsible for preparing monthly sales tax report and payments.
· Reviews and codes all invoices for payment.
· Prepares and submits credit applications for departments.
· Provides training for new department personnel regarding check requests.
· Assures adequate documentation/support of transactions and reports.
· Assists outside auditor on annual audit.
· Completes other tasks and assignments as required.
Budget Support:
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparing the annual budget by providing necessary financial data and analysis.
- Monitor budget performance and report variances to the Director of Finance.
- Collaborate/partner with other departments to ensure budget compliance and accuracy.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential risks.
- Provide financial forecasts and assist in long-term financial planning for the association.
- Prepare reports on key financial metrics to aid in decision-making.
- Assist in preparing financial documentation for annual audits and reviews.
- Ensure compliance with the association’s financial policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Five years of progressive experience in performance of financial duties, financial analysis, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
