Food and Beverage Director

Description: Large, gated HOA in Orange County VA is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time salaried position of Food & Beverage Director. The successful candidate reports to the HOA General Manager. The Food & Beverage Director will oversee, coordinate and provide the planning, organizational and leadership skills necessary to ensure the highest guest service satisfaction at our Clubhouse and Fareways restaurants for our members and their guests. Combined sales are approximately $2,000,000 per year. The Director is responsible for ensuring excellent food quality and that all safety, sanitation, and food handling standards are consistently met. The Director must ensure all State laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages are strictly adhered to including proper staff training and certification. It is essential that the Director maximize food and beverage sales by identifying and targeting sales opportunities through continued marketing and promotional campaigns. Responsibilities include training, managing and retaining a staff of two Assistant Managers, three chefs, and up to 50 full time and part time employees, some of which are seasonal employees of the Association. Fiscal responsibilities include developing the Clubhouse operating budget by projecting annual revenue and expenditures and setting targets with objective to reduce the annual assessment subsidy. The successful candidate will collaborate in the creation of menus and pricing regularly incorporating current food and beverage trends. Attendance and participation at Clubhouse and Fairways Committee meetings is required along with interaction with committee members, Board of Directors, focus group members and community members. A professional appearance along with ability to interact with all personality types is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 – 8 years progressive experience in similar food and beverage operations preferable in a comparable business activity and be knowledgeable with respect to food and beverage hospitality trends and innovations. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations pertaining to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests essential. A college degree is preferred.

Requirements: The Food & Beverage Director must be accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to oversee ongoing Clubhouse and Fareways events. This position requires working evening and weekend hours. The Food & Beverage Director must attend and participate in Committee meetings monthly and Board meetings occassionally. Excellent communication skills are required to interact with Committee Members, Board Members, focus group members and community members. Must have background in developing annual revenue and cost detail for operational budget. Successful candidate must have a valid Virginia driver’s license and pass a background check.

Salary and Benefits: The salary for the position is negotiable beginning with a salary range of $108,000 to $115,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
