What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Swim Coach position at Lake of the Woods Barracudas Swim Team?
The head coach position is a part-time, summer seasonal coaching positions based in Locust Grove, VA. The coach is expected to oversee and coach practices five days per week for the whole of the RSL season ( May 27th to July 26th), as well as prepare for and attend weeknight meets. Coach reports directly to the LOW Swim Board.
As the leader of our team, the coach should be an experienced swimmer and have coaching experience. The position serves as a motivational figure who inspires high morale, encourages new members, builds team cohesiveness, communicates effectively, provides stroke feedback, and gives positive reinforcement.
Duties
- Conduct swim practices, focusing on technique, endurance, and performance improvement.
- Educate swimmers on proper swimming techniques, safety practices, and competitive strategies.
- Monitor swimmer progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
- Manage behavior during training sessions, ensuring a positive and respectful environment.
- Organize swim meets and events, coordinating logistics and participant involvement.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote a cohesive training approach.
- Maintain a safe swimming environment by enforcing pool rules and regulations.
Required Certifications - Lifeguard Training or WSI and CPR or Community First Aid, SafeSport Training, background check
Hours - Monday - Friday: 7:45-12:15, and usually one evening a week (for meets), plus championships meet which is the weekend of July 26th
Head coach must also attend the RSL meeting in early June.
Job Type: Seasonal
Pay: $14.03 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
