Job Description
This position provides placement, admissions, academic, career, transfer, and specialized academic divisional advising to prospective, new, and current students enrolled in Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) at Lake Superior College. This role provides ongoing support to students and our high school partners to navigate the PSEO enrollment and registration process.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years relevant work experience in a related field such as academic placement, admissions, academics, career, transfer, and specialized academic divisional advising, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1 year of professional experience and associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills, decision making skills along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with others
- Ability to assess individual student needs and identify applicable resources
- Strong ability to learn, understand and explain admissions, academic, and financial requirements and college policies
- Experience working with a diverse population of students
- Personal computing/technology skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, and experience with and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Master’s degree in student personnel, education, counseling, or related field
- Two years of experience working in higher education
- Previous experience in admissions, academic, career, or financial aid advising
- Familiarity with D2L, ISRS, Hobsons
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
