This role is is focused on supporting project engineers with the investigation, clarification and interpretation of geological data, while also supporting other field-based projects on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
- Support projects requiring Geologic/Environmental interpretation through informational research and field study
- Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
- Coordinate and lead field crews in a variety of scopes such as ILI tracking, CP surveys, Soil/Terrain and other surveys.
- Assists in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate
- Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)
- Supports the preparation of written documents (field notes and forms, portions of reports, bid documents, health & safety plans, etc.) in a clear and concise manner with moderate editing required
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain their research and findings
- Performs other office or field studies and duties that may be assigned by more senior level professional staff or the Office Manager
- Assists in compiling the scope of work for both routine and more complex lab or field investigations to measure and sample physical and non-physical properties of soil from a geotechnical, geological, or environmental standpoint
- Continually expand knowledge of oil and gas pipeline industry through project work, self-study, and approved formal training
- Generate and gather equipment for kickoffs of projects
- Document and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvement
- Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth/Environmental Sciences
- Potential of up to 75% field time/travel required
- 2 years related work experience desired
- Skilled in MS Office and Google Earth
- Able to perform other IM service line tasks
- Cathodic Protection background a plus
- Exceptional verbal and written skills
- Oil & gas pipeline experience preferred
- Experience with land survey, navigation, interpretation of engineering designs, mechanical repair, IT, and/or construction highly preferred
- Capability to operate a company vehicle, ATV, and use general hand/power tools
- Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
- Good organizational skills and detail oriented
- Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based environment
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as required
- Ability to traverse rugged terrain, excavations and work around pipe and equipment, as required
- Must be able to travel to offsite locations for extended periods of time
- Frequent periods of standing for long periods
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lb.
- Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates
- Ability to work long hours for extended periods, when projects demand
