Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Lake Superior State University School of Nursing invites applications for Simulation Education Director. Reporting to the Dean for the College of Health and Emergency Responders, the Simulation Education Director is responsible for creating a shared multi-year programmatic vision for Simulation Education at LSSU in coordination with key stakeholders. Primary responsibilities include management of the MyMichigan/LSSU Superior Simulation Center, coordination of simulation activities across programs and communities, faculty development, fundraising, marketing and guiding use of the Simulation Center for education and research. The Simulation Education Director will actively seek opportunities for engagement and participation within the School of Nursing and other University entities, in alignment with LSSU’s Strategic Plan.

Administrative Duties
Manage simulation resources (space, equipment, staff) and enforce safety policies. Prepare reports on program activities, accreditation, and outcomes. Work with the College Dean on budgeting, expenditures, and equipment planning. Coordinate facility improvements and equipment deployment. Supervise Simulation Specialists and Technicians.

Simulation/Educational Support
Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation into curricula and design learning that meets national standards. Coordinate faculty development and continuing education in simulation. Assist with student simulation education as needed.

Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Promote simulation resources through grants, publications, and events. Engage in professional organizations and represent the Simulation Center at conferences. Serve as a consultant to internal and external stakeholders. Develop revenue-optimizing initiatives, seek grant funding, and build community partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, health professions, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for representing simulation resources both internally and externally.
Demonstrated ability to advance the university’s and school’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through education and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and Experience in preparing operational & status reports and managing budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing, health professions, or a related field.
One to two years’ experience in simulation-based education and training, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Computer/technological skills including troubleshooting and maintenance of simulation equipment.
Project management and team leadership experience.

Physical Demands:

Must have the physical and emotional reserves to work with undergraduate students. Must be able to perform physically (with or without reasonable accommodations) and safely in the simulation setting. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., walk/stand for 8 hour periods, and have full sensory ability for patient assessment (with or without reasonable accommodations).

Work Hours: 

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and variable
