SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. The college is seeking an adjunct professor and visiting artist for spring quarter 2025 (March 31 through June 11). This position will co-teach ART 430 Undoing Erasure in Art History.

Course Description :

This important class serves two key roles in preparing students to join the global art world. Students will tabulate significant advancements in art history, especially as it applies to commercial art and illustration. During this tabulation of art history, artists who have been historically unrepresented or underrepresented will be distinguished and their impact on contemporary art audited.

Teaching will occur in a fully online class and will include sharing of teaching materials, interaction with students in online discussion boards, feedback on assignments, etc. Visiting artist hours may occur in the morning, afternoon, and / or evening and are typically on campus. Fifty (50) hours will be contracted in total, with additional payment for curriculum development with the co-teacher. The college hires adjunct faculty on a quarter-by-quarter basis, dependent on class schedule and enrollment. Compensation Placement on the faculty salary schedule is based on an individual assessment of education and experience. The salary for part time faculty contracts shall be based upon the number of credits assigned the faculty member, the type of class taught, and the rates contained in the part time faculty salary schedule currently in effect and labeled Appendix B.
