Job Summary:

The Controller will oversee all accounting operations and functions, including payroll, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, quoting, fixed assets, and cost accounting. This role is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, directing budgeting and financial planning processes, and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets. The Controller ensures compliance with GAAP and provides strategic financial guidance to support organizational goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage 2-4 direct reports.
  • Establish performance expectations and regularly review team members' progress.
  • Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Address performance issues constructively to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Track performance using KPIs and regular check-ins to ensure accountability.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Plex ERP software to capture and analyze manufacturing-related data effectively.
  • Establish and manage all accounting functions and activities such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, quoting, fixed assets, and cost accounting.
  • Prepare, consolidate, and analyze timely monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IATF standards, including comparisons to budget, prior month, and prior year.
  • Analyze financial performance by product group and track various key expense areas to ensure appropriate spending.
  • Direct budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes.
  • Coordinate and prepare detailed capital budgets, including cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of assets.
  • Oversee compliance with IATF standards as they pertain to financial operations.
  • Manage internal audits, if necessary.
  • Utilize Plex ERP software to capture and analyze manufacturing-related data effectively.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to develop and guide teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, preferably Plex.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, IATF standards, and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaborative and decision-making abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred but not required.
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with Plex ERP software preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, handling objects, tools, or controls.
