Are you an experienced and passionate Cook? Are you someone who is supportive and a confident team player?
If yes, Lakemary is looking for a PRN-Cook for our Food Service Program. In this role you will prepare entrees and dishes for full meal preparation. This role functions under general supervision of a Registered Dietitian.
Cook Responsibilities:
- Nutrition:
- Meet the nutritional needs of residents
- Meet individual, cultural, and religious food preferences of the residents.
- Portion out food, cut to size for appropriate servings according to portion control standards
- Understanding food preparation and services.
- Prepares and cooks food and bakery goods using the standardized recipes and safe food handling practices. Prepares and cooks food to meet special dietary needs
- Preparation:
- Works on the tray line during breakfast and lunch. Ensure proper portions.
- Serve breakfast
- Utilizes and properly rotates any over production of food items.
An ideal candidate for this position has:
- Knowledge of:
- Food quality standards and health, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Foods and food preparation.
- The operation and care of kitchen equipment.
- Safety and sanitary measures involved in meat handling.
- Materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing and serving food on a large scale.
- The principles of inventory control.
- Ability to:
- Lift and carry heavy objects.
- Understand, learn and follow instructions and procedures, both orally and in writing.
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
- Understand and follow standardized recipes.
- Perform basic math computations; to accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
- Operate an oven.
- Work long hours in rooms at high temperatures.
- To keep records.
- Clean and sanitize work area.
Cook Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Prior food service experience preferred

- Days and hours will vary.
- Starting pay: $ 16.00/hour
