The Yard Switcher is responsible for efficiently and safely moving trailers and containers within a designated yard or terminal. This position plays a crucial role in organizing the flow of transportation and ensuring the timely transfer of goods.
- Operate yard switcher equipment to move trailers and containers to specified locations.
- Coordinate with dispatchers and other yard personnel to prioritize and execute trailer movements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard switcher equipment to ensure safety and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, arrivals, and departures.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
- Communicate effectively with truck drivers, warehouse staff, and other team members.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proven experience operating yard switcher equipment or similar vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to yard operations.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team.

- Ability to sit for extended periods and operate yard switcher equipment.
