What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Programs Nurse position at Lakeside School?
- Review and approve camper medical forms, ensuring compliance with participation requirements.
- Maintain an open line of communication with program teams (LEEP, SS, ILC, Athletics Camps) to ensure accuracy and completion of health records.
- Enforce policies regarding camper participation and ensure completion of health forms, medication orders, and action plans before admission to camp.
- Distribute critical health information (e.g., life-threatening conditions) to staff and prepare the Health Room for medication storage and emergencies.
- Develop and implement procedures for medical documentation, medication management, and communication across programs.
- Be present at employee training sessions to ensure there is an overview of understanding for campers with life-threatening conditions and review emergency locations of supplies. All employees will be CPR/First Aid trained.
- Access to Magnus, CampBrain and paper documentation for respective programs.
- Provide triage and medical care for camper needs, with special attention to younger populations in specific camps.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about camper health concerns.
- Be available to transition between campuses, during regularly scheduled hours, for urgent health concerns. Adapt staffing schedules to meet the unique demands of each program or activity.
- Ensure all necessary medications accompany field trip groups, refining and implementing a system for medication administration outside of campus.
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of health protocols, making real-time adjustments to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff.
- Administer daily medication (often for ADD/ADHD medications)
- Administer PRN medication with proper documentation and approval
- Train and oversee unlicensed school personnel (USP) to administer medications safely when the RN is unavailable.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in WA.
- Active CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience in pediatric nursing or school health preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and a creative mindset for solving problems and streamlining processes.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing medication administration in educational settings.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ensuring the well-being of campers and staff.

As a Summer Programs Nurse, you will play a vital role by improving and implementing health procedures and protocols that enhance the camper experience and ensure safety. Dates: 7 weeks, Monday-Friday June 16th-August 1st. Closed for July 4th.
