Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Job Coach to assist individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities in gaining job-specific skills in community-based work evaluations. The Job Coach will be responsible for accompanying participants to job sites, providing on-the-job training, and taking detailed notes on the participants’ performance. The goal of this position is to support individuals in learning essential job skills, increase their confidence, and ensure a successful transition to competitive community employment.
Duties
- Accompany individuals to various community job sites as they complete 40-hour work evaluations to gain real-world, job-specific experience.
- Provide hands-on coaching to help participants learn job tasks, safety protocols, and expectations of the specific worksite.
- Monitor participants' performance, providing real-time feedback and encouragement to help build confidence and improve job-specific skills.
- Take detailed notes on participants’ progress, documenting their ability to complete tasks, follow instructions, interact with coworkers, and handle worksite demands.
- Communicate any challenges or successes that occur during each shift to both the participant and the Employment Specialist coordinating the placement.
- Provide prompts and cues as needed to support the individual’s ability to successfully complete tasks, manage time effectively, and handle any interpersonal interactions appropriately.
- Assist with creating and achieving individualized goals for the work evaluations, with a focus on skills development that matches the individual’s long-term employment goals.
- Encourage participants to use coping mechanisms and stress management techniques if needed, ensuring they remain focused and productive throughout their work evaluations.
- Collect and report any concerns about the participant’s well-being, job performance, or interactions with coworkers, providing suggestions for improvements or additional support if necessary.
- Ensure that participants understand workplace rules and expectations and are able to follow them consistently.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other stakeholders to ensure that participants are receiving the support they need and are performing job duties safely and appropriately.
- Track the individual’s performance during the work evaluations, highlighting areas of growth as well as opportunities for continued development.
- Assist with transition plans if the participant successfully completes their evaluation and is ready for a permanent position or additional training.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20 - $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
