Job Summary

The Manager, Consumer Insights will be responsible for leading research initiatives that ensure the organization has foundational understanding of the categories we operate in today, our existing portfolio of brands, and ultimately the consumers we serve and intend to engage in the future. This role will leverage a variety of Insights inputs with a focus on triangulating first-hand Qualitative/Quantitative research, Trends, and Panel/POS data to influence category, brand, and innovation strategies. The individual would balance conducting research workstreams in-house AND managing workstreams that are vendor-executed. The ideal candidate has an analytical, Quant research background (experience designing, programming, analyzing, and developing reports) with exposure to Qual methodologies and interest in developing into a well-rounded consumer researcher that can execute both Quant & Qual studies.

Role Responsibilities

  • Scope and develop custom research methodology plans that deliver on project/stakeholder objectives, budgets, and timelines (small single phase to large multi-phase initiatives).
  • Quant Surveys: A&U/Shopper studies, Opportunity/Concept Testing (Monadic/Sequential), TURF/Conjoint/Max Diff Analyses, Branding/Packaging tests, Pricing studies, etc.
  • Qual studies (Digital & Live): Ethnographies, Focus Groups/IDIs, Product Testing, etc.
  • Trend Monitoring & Synthesis: Strategically triangulating desk research, second-hand reports, and data from partner/vendor tools.
  • Lead workstreams from start to finish: Study design, workstream & stakeholder management, analysis, report development, and learnings share-outs. With support and input from the Director, Consumer Insights.
  • Turn learnings and data into clear, compelling, and actionable visual and verbal narratives.
  • Leverage and analyze POS and Syndicated data sources (i.e., Circana, Datassensial, Numerator, 84.51 (Kroger), Luminate/Scintilla (Walmart), etc.)
  • Manage relationships with external Research/Strategy/Creative partners: Pushing thinking and approaches, ensuring high-quality execution, timeline adherence, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams: Brand, R&D, Sales, Category, Omnichannel
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate learnings are accessible and leveraged across the organization (especially in sales/marketing materials)
  • Be the voice-of-the-consumer: championing learnings in meetings with stakeholders and leadership, and actively contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Have a pulse on and embrace new research methodologies and tools: Listen to webinars, participate in vendor capabilities meetings, attend research conferences, etc. to recommend new, but also tried and true approaches (AI included). Seeking both scrappy/quick-turn AND in-depth options to further build out a robust Insights toolkit.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in research, consumer insights, analytics, or a similar role within the CPG industry (F&B experience a plus).
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Marketing, Market Research, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Expertise in Quant research: Survey designs and tool programming capabilities (i.e., response pull-throughs, loop & merges, stat testing, data cuts, sample deployment and management, etc.)
  • Superb analytical skills: Ability to clean and analyze complex data turning it into actionable insights within reasonable timelines.
  • Experience in Qual research: Familiarity with methodologies and observation or participation in studies. Openness to growing and rounding out research expertise. (Study design [Screener/Discussion Guide development]/ Moderation/ Facilitation large plus).
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to present to large groups and Leadership in an engaging manner, field in-the-moment questions, and guide/influence stakeholders through data-driven storytelling.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects (ranging in size) in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, strategic mindset.
