Job Summary
As the Food Service Director, you will lead and manage all aspects of the dining and nutritional services for our residents in a Nursing Home environment, including Assisted Living, Basic Care, and Memory Care. You will ensure that meals are nutritious, delicious, and meet the dietary needs of residents while adhering to regulatory requirements. This role involves supervising the kitchen staff, menu planning, budget management, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications:

  • Any sort of education in Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Nutrition, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing healthcare dietary services.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
  • Compassionate approach to elderly care, with a focus on customer service.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Experience with state food inspections preferred.

General Requirements:

  • Lead and manage the Food Service Department, which consists of three cooks, by overseeing day-to-day operations, staffing, scheduling, and training.
  • Develop and prepare menus that are nutritious, well-balanced, and tailored to meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents, in collaboration with dietitians and healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local health regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Supervise and train kitchen and dining staff, ensuring efficient food preparation, presentation, and service.
  • Lead state inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Manage inventory and budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and use of food supplies while minimizing waste.
  • Monitor dietary needs of residents, coordinating closely with nursing staff to adjust menus and address individual dietary restrictions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with departments to enhance the dining experience for residents, particularly for special events and holidays.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction by regularly gathering feedback and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate assessments and survey records, including meal plans, staff schedules, and compliance documents.
