Summer School Child Nutrition Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose: To manage the serving of safe, nutritious, appealing meals to students and staff in an atmosphere of friendliness, cleanliness and efficiency.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Comply with applicable guidelines and policies.
- Maintain high standard of sanitation and safety.
- Provide quality food service to students with emphasis on nutritional value, flavor and acceptability.
- Prepare orders for supplies and equipment according to outlined schedule.
- Balance labor and food costs with revenue received.
- Assume responsibility for records of cash, food, supplies and equipment.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and insures proper usage.
- Assist in training regular and substitute employees.
- Prepare and post work schedules.
- Monitor time sheets and time cards for accuracy.
- Conduct annual evaluations of employees.
- Work after regular hours as needed for special events and emergencies.
- Foster an attitude of customer satisfaction among staff.
- Correct unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident. Any conditions that are not correctable by you are to be reported to the supervisor immediately.
- Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job.
- Know and practice safety techniques in lifting, climbing, and performing other job duties.
- Attendance at work is an essential function.
- Other duties assigned by the supervisor or designee.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise regular and substitute employees
EXPERIENCE:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- TSFSA Certification preferred
- Manager-In-Training program or diversified experience in the area of food service
- Serve Safe or equivalent Food Service Manager's Permit
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to read and understand instructions for food preparation and safety procedures as written
- Possess people management and motivation skills
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to merchandise products
- Positive attitude toward use of computer and ten-key machine
OTHER INFORMATION:
Equipment Used: Large and small kitchen equipment to include electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, vegetable cutters, sharp cutting tools, ovens, dishwashers, food/utility carts and ladders. Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), pushing (intermittent), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking (intermittent), standing (3-5 hours per day), kneeling (intermittent), repeated bending (intermittent), climbing (intermittent), specific visual requirements (reading product labels, directions/equipment operation), specific hearing requirement (oral and telephone conversations). Excessive heat, cold and humidity; excessive dampness or chilling, excessive noise (intermittent), fumes, solvents, works around machinery with moving parts, working on ladders or scaffolding, working with hands in water. Attendance at work is an essential function.
