Accounting Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Coordinator will carry out the following duties:
- Assists in the implementation of accounting procedures by maintaining accurate records and internal controls throughout the system and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assists in the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts at both the district and school level.
- Assists the Director of Finance with account analysis, report preparation and distribution, and month-end/year -end closeout procedures.
- Reviews financial information for potential budget variances, compiles statistical information, and conforms to established financial practices and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains a wide variety of financial records to ensure compliance and the availability of documentation.
- Audits financial documentation, such as employee expense statements, travel advances, and registration payments.
- Balances and processes monthly and quarterly payments by performing accounts payable, salary, and/or travel reconciliations to meet applicable reporting requirements.
- Assists with the development of grant proposals.
- Assists with budget preparations and monthly bank reconciliation.
- Performs the needed administrative tasks for effective implementation of several federal and state sponsored programs and other grant management tasks as assigned.
- Assists with database activities related to the financial system.
- Prepares invoices and draft letters.
- Assists auditors by providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal processes.
- Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and pronouncements (GAAP and FASB).
- Experience in SmartFusion or ERP accounting systems, preferred.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully with all levels of the LCSS and the local community.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft, including Pivot tables and U-lookups.
- Experience in public school accounting preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
