TITLE: Facilities Custodian
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Fulltime
POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources & Facilities Operations
POSITION OVERSEES: N/A
Position Overview:
As the Chamber's Facilities Custodian, you will oversee a range of tasks related to the efficient functioning of the Lancaster Chamber building. Your responsibilities will include janitorial services, minor building maintenance/upkeep, and operations support. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring a well-maintained, safe, and organized environment. Hours for the position are Monday-Friday 12:30p-8pm but there is flexibility to change based on the needs of the role. NO WEEKENDS REQUIRED.
Responsibilities:
- Janitorial Services:
- Maintain cleaning schedule for the building.
- Order and monitor stock of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Perform hands-on cleaning tasks (e.g., vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, etc.).
- Respond to emergency cleaning needs (e.g., spills, accidents).
- Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols across all areas.
- Promote a clean and hazard-free environment.
- Building Maintenance:
- Oversee routine and emergency maintenance tasks to keep the facility in optimal condition:
- Conduct regular inspections of the building, identifying repair needs.
- Address minor and urgent repairs promptly (e.g., fixing light fixtures, door handles, plumbing issues, tables, etc.).
- Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or renovations.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Oversee routine and emergency maintenance tasks to keep the facility in optimal condition:
- Operations Support:
- Meeting room setup
- Front desk support
- Daily lunch coverage for front desk receptionist
- End of day support, handling minor tasks when Receptionist is unavailable
- Print Room Support
- Monitor printing requests from Chamber team and building partners
- Administer bulk mailing process
- Processing invoices
- Ensure all outgoing mail get to the mailbox in a timely manner
- Monitor expenses related to janitorial services, maintenance, and printing in conjunction with the Director of HR & Operations
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in janitorial, building maintenance, or related fields.
- Ability to use technology (computer, printer, mailroom equipment).
- Skills:
- Problem-solving mindset A MUST.
- Attention to detail and a heart of excellence
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication.
Additional Required Duties:
- Abide by and follow The Lancaster Chamber Employee Handbook
- Represent the Lancaster Chamber in a professional manner
- Attend Operations team meetings and monthly all staff meetings
- Attend periodic specific training provided by Lancaster Chamber
- Attend and assist with required Chamber events
- Perform all other assignments and duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Technology Requirements:
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products
- Ability to navigate the Internet
- Ability to learn and utilize software related to processing of bulk mailings
- Ability to learn, utilize, and troubleshoot print room equipment
- Ability to operate janitorial equipment (vacuum, ladders, small power and hand tools)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to move briskly with little to no issues
Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Possession of a registered and operating vehicle
