Job Description:
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the First Assistant District Attorney with oversight from the District Attorney. The Supervising Attorney will supervise the Sentencing Guideline Coordinators, who will report directly to the Supervising Attorney.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the management and operation of the Acclerated Resolution Court on behalf of the District Attorney's Office.
- Respondible for representing the Commonwealth in all criminal cases that appear before the Acclerated Resolution Court.
- Responsible for ensuring the completeness of discovery.
- Responsible for ensuring the proper redaction of discovery
- Responsible for preparing plea paperwork.
- Responsible for ensuring the timely transmission of discovery and plea paperwork to defense counsel.
- Responsible for supervising all operations of the Sentencing Guideline Coordinators
OTHER SPECIFIC TASKS OR DUTIES
- Training sessions on sentencing guidelines and staying up to date on developments in sentencing guidelines
- Act as Duty DA to be on call for the office on a rotating basis
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Baccalaureate degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science). Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree License to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Minimum of four years as a practicing attorney with a workload devoted exclusively or primarily to the practice of criminal law as either a prosecutor or defense counsel. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and ability to perform this job.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must possess excellent trial and supervisory skills and be an expert in PA criminal practice and prosecutions. Ability to communicate effectively with police, opposing counsel, judges, and court-related personnel.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CLEARANCES
License to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under the rules and regulations of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; If meeting the criteria for "driver" designation under the Lancaster County Transportation Policy, then compliance with "Authorized Driver Guidelines" under same Policy; PA State Criminal history check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily sedentary in nature, no special demands are required.
Must be able to work extended hours as needed for criminal investigations and complex trials.
