Job Description
Overview:
The Lancaster Central School District is searching for innovative, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to
serve our District as reading/literacy teachers. We are interested in candidates who have the ability to work
with all students while effectively collaborating with the administration, faculty and staff towards the
improvement of our instructional programming and, most importantly, the edification of our students.
Anticipated openings for the 2025/26 school year.
Qualifications:
NYS Certification as a reading teacher or Literacy (B-6) as applicable.
Certification or extensive training in evidence-based reading interventions (e.g.,UFLI, Heggerty, Orton-
Gillingham, LETRS, or similar).
Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Science of Reading principles, including phonemic
awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and skills which support comprehension.
Experience with diagnostic literacy assessments, including but not limited to
Core phonics Assessment
Fastbridge
Heggerty
RAN
Reading inventories and miscue analysis
Ability to analyze assessment data to identify skill gaps, determine appropriate interventions, and monitor
student progress over time.
Knowledge of and ability to implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for literacy.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, intervention teams, and families.
Ability to deliver small group and individualized instruction that is aligned with state standards and responsive to student needs.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning in the field of literacy instruction and intervention.
