Truth Bible Church (https://www.truthbiblechurch.com) is seeking a full time Lead Pastor who will serve to spiritually lead and provide vision, guidance, and pastoral care, with the goal to present “every man mature in Christ” (Col. 1:28).

About Us: Truth Bible Church is located in Southern Maryland about 60 miles south of Washington, D.C., and has been in existence for about 16 years. Being in St. Mary’s County (population about 115,000) we have many in our congregation who are connected with the Naval Air Station Patuxent River (both military and contractors with D.O.D.).We currently have two campuses (a church plant was established in 2023) with the plan to divide into two independent campuses in the near future. The “mother” church of about 75-100 members/attenders is seeking a pastor to serve the flock as the founding pastor recently resigned. The church plant currently has about 50-75 members/attenders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaching and Preaching
• Be fully committed to expository preaching.
• Prepare and deliver engaging Bible-based sermons for Sunday morning worship services.
• Lead the development and teaching of adults during the Sunday School hour.
• Be involved in the planning/leading of adult Sunday evening classes.
• Assist with oversight (and help to lead) the midweek Home Groups (currently doing sermon discussion).
• Be available/flexible to assist the church plant in occasional teaching roles until they become independent.
• Preach as needed at special events, including weddings, funerals, evangelism events, etc.
• Administration:
• Manage the administrative aspects of the church, including church operations, budgeting, planning, personnel management in the church office, and strategic development.
• Help to plan, organize, execute, and participate in all-church events.
• Provide oversight to various ongoing ministries, such as youth, men, missions, etc.
• Lead and mentor the church staff, providing direction and support.
• Lead in the administration of the two ordinances of the church: baptism and communion.
• Attend regularly scheduled weekly staff and monthly elder meetings. (We are an elder-led church.)
• Work with the staff to schedule special services and events.
• Discipleship/Counseling/Pastoral Care:
• Be committed to the principles and practices of Biblical Counseling. We are a training center with the International Association of Biblical Counselor (see IABC.net for more information).
• Share the counseling load as the needs arise (marriage, pre-marital, parenting, life dominating sins, depression, financial, bereavement, etc.).
• Build 1-to-1 discipleship relationships as time allows and encourage/teach others in the body to do the same.
• Provide pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick and offering support during times of crisis.
• Evangelism:
• Have a heart for the lost, encouraging many forms of evangelism and outreach for specific needs and settings - church, lifestyle, friendship, tracts, events, visitation, etc. Encouraging the flock to share their faith simply, effectively, and biblically. Currently the church is using “The Way of the Master” curriculum.
• Engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and mission activities.
• Participate in and supervise the regular preaching of the gospel during the worship service, which the male members at TBC do weekly.
• Visitation of visitors, which includes a brief porch visit and perhaps an opportunity to share the gospel.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Overall character and abilities are based on elder qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5.
• Seminary training (Master of Divinity degree or equivalent theological education from a like-minded institution) is preferred, but college level/Bible degree or equivalent may be acceptable. Having the ability to understand and use the original languages in preaching is a plus.
• Committed to prayer and regular personal devotions.
• A shepherd who genuinely loves his sheep as the Lord loves the church and is willing to lay his life down in tangible ways for the protection, growth, and health of the church.
• Be a gifted teacher who is passionate about teaching the truths of God’s Word, leading God’s people to love and obey His Word.
• Proven experience in pastoral leadership and ministry is very helpful.
  
  

Benefits

Financial Package/Compensation

• Total package starting at: $72,000 ($6,000/mo.) – $84,000 ($7,000/mo.)
• Salary and Housing Allowance Range: $67,000 – $79,000
• Ministry/Travel Expense Account: $3600 ($300/mo)
• Annual Health Reimbursement: $1400/yr (may qualify for free Maryland Healthcare/Medicaid)
• Vacation – First year, 2 weeks paid vacation plus 7 paid holidays. Afterwards, 1 additional day paid vacation for every year served. (Faithful service in other ministries/churches/mission field will be considered.)
• Relocation/Moving Expense: TBC will pay reasonable moving expenses to Southern Maryland.
