Summary

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's employee relations efforts by providing guidance, support, and expertise in resolving employee-related issues and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. The Specialist will handle employee relations investigations, offer actionable recommendations, and foster a positive work environment through proactive communication and conflict resolution strategies. Additionally, this role will contribute to maintaining and improving HR policies and programs that promote a healthy, fair, and productive workplace.

Essential Functions

  • Act as a key advisor to managers and employees, addressing workplace issues and fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Person should administer and maintain the local performance management program to ensure ongoing employee development and feedback.
  • Person should conduct employee relations investigations and provide timely, compliant recommendations to leaders.
  • Person should regularly review and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and consistency with company practices.
  • Person should act as project lead for HR-related initiatives, ensuring successful implementation and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Administration, monitor, and track the Leave of Absence program, ensuring compliance with policies and timely follow-up on related matters.

  • Conduct thorough investigations related to employee complaints or incidents, documenting findings and making recommendations for corrective actions or policy updates.
  • Advise management on employee relations matters, such as performance issues, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution, to support a positive work environment.
  • Regularly update and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as alignment with company goals and values.
  • Support management in implementing effective employee engagement and retention strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in employment law and employee relations practices, ensuring the organization stays informed and compliant with industry standards.
  • Administration, monitor, and track the Leave of Absence program, ensuring compliance with policies and timely follow-up on related matters.
  • Other responsibilities as needed, including supporting HR-related projects and initiatives that align with organizational goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of federal / state regulations related to employment laws

  • Knowledge of administering training programs and performance management initiatives
  • Excellent organizational, data tracking / analytics skills, and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess the ability to collaborate, lead, and influence teams to achieve objectives
  • Ability to identify problems and collaborate within a team environment to develop solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills working with all levels of the organization
  • Fluent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Office 365
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly desired
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2 years' prior experience in Employee Relations investigations required
  • HR-related certifications preferred
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions at the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This includes the requirement to type quickly and write, to talk, and hear, and to listen and process information, then utilize it to provide employees and customers with desired information. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk briskly, stand, stop and reach for items.
