Summary
Sets up and operates CNC machines to produce parts to specifications.
Essential Functions
- Maintains accurate count of processed parts
- Boxes or Palletizes completed parts
- Daily housekeeping in assigned work areas
- Completes written log on work done, hours spent, and number of parts produced
- Ensures that the parts they process are to specification and meet all known quality requirements, both before and after they complete their process steps
- Operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) turning centers, vertical machining centers, CNC turret punching machines, sheet metal lasers and/or press brakes
- Operates additional machine shop equipment to prepare and perform secondary operations on parts before and after CNC operation
- Report any safety, quality, and waste issues to their immediate supervisor
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Able to do basic shop math, read blueprints and use measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges, and dial calipers, etc.
- Able to set up / operate CNC machines to produce parts to specification
- Must be willing to cross-train and learn new skills and techniques
- Must have own tools
- Some lifting is required
- High School or GED level education is preferred
- Equivalent experience in assigned trade/vocation can be substituted for educational minimums
- Minimum 3 years' experience operating CNC turning centers, vertical machining centers, turret punching machines, sheet metal lasers and/or press brakes
- Previous computer-controlled programming experience preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions at the manufacturing site. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Employees in this position are required to wear steel or composite-toe boots or shoes when present or working within the manufacturing areas of the facility.
This job operates in a combination of lab and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
