What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Coordinator position at Lanco?
This position is responsible for the daily plan administration of the company benefit offerings for the USA and Canada employees. Performs administrative work in the various benefit systems to ensure that the programs are carried out in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include answering employees and management questions on the benefit policies, programs, and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Accurately and timely process employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and maintenance in both the company and vendor record systems for all of the various benefit offerings using the system tools and discrepancy reports : medical, wellness, HSA, dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, group term life, voluntary life, retirement, etc.
- Provides medical support compliance.
- Performs administrative tasks such as sending notifications to employees.
- On a quarterly basis, enters proper company and division for the forfeiture report.
- Response to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation.
- Answers employee benefit questions and resolve discrepancies accurately and timely ensuring employees are aware of and engage with Alex benefits counselor.
- Administer federal, state / provincial, and local leave of absence and accommodation policies and procedures consistently and in compliance with applicable jurisdictions. This includes accurate timekeeping for reporting purposes and premium payments.
- Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employees initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
- Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
- Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
- Enter one-time payments associated with gym memberships and tuition reimbursement.
- Administers the service award program through communication, payment and assists with distributing the plaques.
- Monitors the retirement travel voucher program and rectifies issues, if applicable
- Produces reports to allocate short term disability / FICA payments.
- Maintain physical and virtual required federal, State, and other employment postings
- Supports the Manager, Benefits with annual open enrollment (wellness earnings updates)
- Perform weekly self audit
- Other duties as assigned

The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location.
