What are the responsibilities and job description for the Alfalfa Breeding Program Technician position at Land O'Lakes?
We are seeking highly skilled individuals to join our team at Land O'Lakes as Summer Research Technicians.
This seasonal position will work in the alfalfa breeding program and will be responsible for assisting with field, greenhouse, and laboratory activities.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong background in agriculture or a related field
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
About the Role:
This position will involve a range of tasks including:
- Assisting with field activities such as transplanting, harvesting, hoeing, sample grinding and near-infrared (NIRS) analysis
- Driving small lawn tractors and other small vehicles to help with tasks around the station
- Assisting with care and maintenance of alfalfa plants in the greenhouse, as well as hand pollinations of alfalfa flowers, cuttings, seeding and sorting of alfalfa
