Coordinator
Land of Lincoln Legal Aid seeks an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator for a one-year, full-time
position. Land of Lincoln Legal Aid provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals in 65
counties in Illinois. We are committed to providing justice for those whose voices might otherwise not
be heard; to empower individuals to advocate for themselves; and to make positive changes in the
communities we serve.
As an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator, you will work under the supervision of the Pro Bono
Manager to engage, recruit, and retain volunteers, including attorneys, paralegals, students, and other
professionals. Your efforts will focus on building and expanding Land of Lincoln Legal Aid’s volunteer
network, improving volunteer experiences, and developing new opportunities to increase access to legal
services across Illinois.
- Assist in developing and distributing outreach materials to recruit new volunteers
- Coordinate targeted outreach campaigns (email, social media) to expand the volunteer network
- Maintain and update volunteer data in case management platform, ensuring accuracy
- Research and create database of potential volunteer partner organizations (law firms, law schools,
- Help implement standardized onboarding and training processes for new volunteers
- Document and maintain best practices for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and retention
- Assist in planning and executing legal clinics and other pro bono events
- Respond to volunteer inquiries and match them with appropriate pro bono opportunities
- Support the development of new pro bono opportunities based on community needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated experience in volunteer coordination, public service, legal
- Experience with database management or data entry
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail
- Interest in serving diverse, low-income communities and expanding access to justice
