Summary
The Corporate Accountant will be responsible for overseeing our general accounting operations by tracking and managing the organization’s assets, liabilities, and financial activities to help prepare accounting statements and financial reports.
Essential Functions
- Maintaining general ledger, prepare and support with month-end and year-end close procedures to prepare financial statements
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements on a daily basis, prepare daily cash reports
- Manage fixed asset accounting including complicated construction-in-process projects
- Conduct all payroll related accounting activities supporting the HR department preparing payroll, posting and reconciling all payroll related general ledger accounts
- Assist with external accounting reports for financial institutions, insurance companies, auditors, and government agencies
- Prepare, reconcile and submit tax filings, assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Assist with budget creation and monitoring efforts
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks
- Analyze financial reports and forecasts
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Proven experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor, or chief accountant
- Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements and consolidation procedures of multiple entities
- Hands-on experience with ERP accounting software packages
- Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
Required Education and Experience
BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent. Must also have 3 to 5 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance work.
