Overview
Solo practitioner is building the law firm's team and looking for a dedicated legal assistant or paralegal. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the attorney with various legal tasks, ensuring efficient case management and maintaining high standards of professionalism. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping others. Training and opportunities for advancement will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the intake process.
- Assist in preparing discovery requests, mandatory disclosures and trial preparation.
- Be the first point of contact with clients and keep clients updated with their case status.
- Manage attorney’s calendar.
- E-file and e-serve documents.
- Arrange for runner services whenever needed.
- Prepare and send out mail.
- Prepare shell pleadings for attorney to finalize prior to filing.
- Assist in preparing court forms, including Financial Disclosure Forms.
- Assist in preparing briefs and documents for settlement conferences and mediation.
- Organize electronic client files and maintain them organized during the pendency of the case.
- Open and close files.
Skills
- Must be able to multitask and pay attention to detail.
- Experience in the legal field in Nevada as a legal assistant or paralegal for at least three years is required.
- Experience in family law preferred but not required.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred but not required.
- Notary license or willingness to obtain such license is required. Employer will cover the expense.
- Proficiency in legal case management software and document review processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Pro, Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
- Proficiency in DropBox preferred.
- Knowledge of local court rules and civil procedure rules is preferred.
- Excellent interviewing skills to effectively gather information from clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
