Position Title: Garden Center Event Specialist
Reports To: Garden Center Manager
Supervises: N/A
Position Purpose: The Garden Center Event Specialist is responsible for attracting customers and promoting sales and events. This person independently and/or collaboratively works with the Garden Center Manager and team members to actively promote Landscape Garden Centers’ Mission and Values. This person actively participates in the community in order to promote LGC’s products and services.
Essential Functions and Typical Tasks:
- Pursue new garden center opportunities through new markets and clients.
- Assist with promotional campaigns that create brand awareness and promote sales.
- Develop fundraising opportunities and market to area organizations. Coordinate with Garden. Center Manager and department leaders to ensure fundraising orders are fulfilled.
- Identify community businesses to collaborate with for events, products, and services.
- Communicate with potential corporate and private event customers. Schedule meetings and provide needed information.
- Follow up with event and garden center customers to evaluate their experience.
- Teach seasonal and educational classes.
- Host field trips and tours.
- Handle rental process of event space, The Gardens, and assist clients as needed throughout the process.
- Update and manage online event registrations. Coordinate with retail staff to ensure orders are fulfilled.
- Communicate updates for website and social media accounts to internal and external company marketing groups.
- Meet with Garden Center Manager to discuss event performance and identify areas to improve as well as future needs.
- Assist customers, garden center staff and Marketing Specialist during peak seasons.
- Evenings and weekend availability is necessary as work duties demand.
Experience/Education/Skills:
Degree in marketing, or related field preferred.
Two – five years of experience in the garden center and/or events industry preferred.
Plant knowledge and exceptional customer service experience are a plus!
