The primary responsibility is to accurately assess and provide detailed cost estimates for landscape design and construction projects, ensuring they align with client expectations and financial feasibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project specifications and plans to prepare detailed quantity and material price take-offs
- Develop comprehensive project cost summaries and present findings and recommendations clearly to potential clients and management
- Collaborate with team members, landscape architects, clients, contractors, and sub-contractors to adjust and refine cost estimates
- Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, and services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as projects progress
- Recommend enhancements to cost-estimating procedures to leverage historical data and minimize future discrepancies
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, weekly production meetings, and bi-weekly meetings with the General Manager
- A proactive and problem-solving attitude, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Demonstrated success in delivering accurate and detailed cost estimates within the landscaping or construction industry
- Advanced proficiency in CAD and landscape design software, with a willingness to adopt new technologies
- Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex blueprints and technical documents
- Experience managing and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adept at conveying ideas and explanations to clients and team members
- Commitment to ongoing learning and personal growth, along with a track record of effective teamwork and leadership potential
- Physical capability to meet job demands, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions and handling physical tasks as specified
- Proficiency in CAD and other landscape design software; familiarity with 3D modeling tools is advantageous
- Deep knowledge of landscape construction, market pricing, building techniques, and engineering
- Ability to interpret and follow blueprints and technical documents accurately
- Understanding of construction concepts, scheduling, bidding, and estimating processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills, with a proactive approach to teamwork
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in landscape, construction, and estimating roles
