Landseer Management is a property management company located in Santa Fe, NM. We manage hundreds of commercial and residential property leases in the Santa Fe, Roswell and Los Alamos areas. We manage every phase of the lease or rent process. We find high quality tenants to fill properties under our management. We then manage monthly rent payments and expenses for each property during the lease. Finally we manage the correct termination of leases when tenants move out including preparing the property for a new tenant and processing the former tenant’s security deposit.
Must Be Located In Northern New Mexico - No relocation available
Position Overview
Ø Prepare monthly draws to property owners including publishing a monthly activity statement.
Ø Manage bills and expenses that may arise with managed properties.
Ø Prepare security deposit refunds as they occur at lease end.
Ø Assist accounting department with processing invoices for the sister repair and maintenance company.
Ø Maintain strong communication with property managers around property account status and current issues.
Roles and Duties
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations at Landseer Management. The Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of our accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support company goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of property management accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead a high-performing team.
Job Responsibilities
Ø Oversee the accounting operations for the property portfolio, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant billing, and financial reporting.
Ø Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Ø Manage property budgets, monitor variances, and provide financial insights to optimize operational efficiency.
Ø Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions, reconciliations, and reporting.
Ø Oversee tenant billing and lease administration processes, ensuring rent collections and expense recoveries align with lease agreements.
Ø Manage cash flow and forecasting, ensuring proper funding for property operations and investments.
Ø Prepare for and lead external audits, ensuring compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory standards.
Ø Collaborate with property managers and executives to evaluate financial performance and develop strategic initiatives.
Ø Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure operational efficiency.
Ø Stay updated on changes in property management accounting regulations and industry best practices.
Job Requirements
Ø Experience in billing, accounts payable or accounts receivable is preferred.
Ø Familiar with QuickBooks
Ø Proficiency with AppFolio or ability to learn and use AppFolio is required, experience with other property management or accounting software is a plus.
Ø Onsite work required; this is not a remote position.
Ø Attention and detail-oriented work is required.
Ø High level of organization is required to successfully perform job duties.
Ø Passing background and credit checks is required.
Ø Basic office skills are required including the ability to use PDFs, Microsoft Outlook and follow written procedures.
Ø A commitment to a high level of customer and stakeholder service is required.
Ø Physical ability to handle filling and lifting light loads such as document binders and boxes
Ø Assist other Landseer employees with research or problem solving on an ad hoc basis.
