As a land surveyor, you will be part of a dynamic team that conducts field surveys and prepares site plans for various projects. You will also verify the accuracy of survey data, research legal boundaries, and write reports of legal descriptions of surveys.
To be a successful land surveyor, you don’t need a degree, but you do need some experience in land surveying and mapping. You also need to be proficient in surveying software and equipment, and have a good knowledge of surveying techniques, procedures, laws, and policies. Most importantly, you need to have good numeracy and logical thinking skills, problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy, communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational and time management skills.
