Engineering Technician 2 - Hourly Wage: $26.32 - $34.29
About the Position:
This Engineering Technician position works in the Engineering & Construction Services Division of Lane County Public Works. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing field inspections; assisting with existing pavement evaluations; computing quantities; preparing and coordinating project documentation and communications; and helping the survey and construction materials testing teams when needed.
This position has the potential to promote to the Technical Specialist 2 level after:
- 1) Successfully completing a one-year probationary period; and
- 2) Demonstrating the minimum qualifications for a Technical Specialist 2; and
- 3) Successfully obtaining a minimum of four (4) ODOT Certifications related to Inspections.
About the Division:
The Engineering & Construction Services Division responsibilities include planning, designing and constructing safe and efficient transportation systems for Lane County. The Division also provides high quality and comprehensive engineering and construction services to other County Departments and external public agency clients that manage, maintain, and plan public improvement programs and projects. Our mission is to provide these important services for the benefit of citizens, businesses, industries, and visitors to Lane County.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; typically 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; Overtime required per operational needs.
NOTE: Position will work substantial overtime during the June - October construction season.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience (Engineering Technician 1):
- Contributing Level: 0-2 years of related experience; or having an Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate.
Education and Experience (Engineering Technician 2):
- Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate.
- Journey Level: 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Oregon Driver's License
