What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter/Designer position at Lang Specialty Trailers?
The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing-based CAD experience. Hands on experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus but not required. SolidWorks software is preferred.
What we are looking for:
-Familiar with the SolidWorks software and its features including, Creating Layouts / Models / Assemblies / BOM’s and Drawings as well as updating and maintaining them in the database.
-Experience with industry standard manufacturing components/processes including the following: Plumbing and waste water systems, 12V/120V and 240V Electrical systems, Structural components and their associated material processing techniques such as Steel/Aluminum/Composites/Plastics/Wood etc.
-Experience and is familiar with SW PDM file management system. Experience using the Copy Tree features in PDM for duplicating and repurposing designs and data is a plus.
-Familiar with any or all of the following SolidWorks modeling techniques: Skeleton Modeling, Multibody Modeling, Save Bodies Feature, Top Down and Bottom Up assemblies and associated file structure/management.
-Experience with creating and manipulating, and updating multi-level assemblies and BOM’s.
-Enjoys designing and creative problem solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
-Experience with CAD Related CNC and Programming is a benefit, but not necessary.
Responsibilities for this role will include:
-Working closely with the CAD lead and team members in maintaining the current CAD system and files and developed future CAD models, assemblies and drawings.
-Create and update detailed CAD models and assemblies, with associated drawings and BOM’s.
-Work with production team to support them with necessary CAD drawings and process updates.
-Helping improve current process in CAD and manufacturing in the office and on the shop floor.
-Understanding and designing, plumbing systems, electrical systems, and structures.
