Position Overview
A senior partner, specializing in real estate transactions, secured lending, and business transactions (including business formations, mergers, and acquisitions), is seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Assistant.. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of executing tasks efficiently and ensuring that clients and business partners receive the highest level of service.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who can handle both the legal and financial aspects of transactions. While prior experience in real estate and business transactions is preferred, we are willing to provide training for the right candidate.
Location
This is a full-time, on-site position located at our office in Valdosta, GA.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule real estate closings with clients, realtors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Order and review title abstracts, surveys, lien searches, and mortgage/lien payoffs.
- Collaborate with closing parties and title insurance agencies to resolve title issues.
- Draft, revise, and review title opinions, insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements.
- Prepare closing statements for real estate and business transactions.
- Manage escrow funds, including initiating and verifying wire transfers (both incoming and outgoing).
- Prepare disbursements and payoffs for transactions.
- Submit documents to the Clerk of Court for recording and/or e-filing.
- Draft and review legal documents such as deeds, easements, UCC financing statements, and estate planning documents.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, both electronic and paper.
- Ensure client confidentiality is upheld at all times.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proven experience handling administrative tasks in a legal setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain professionalism in email and phone correspondence.
- Basic understanding of corporate structures and business law concepts.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- A bachelor's or associate degree is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with law firm document management software (e.g., Clio, iManage) is preferred but not required.
- Experience with real estate transaction software such as Qualia, Landtech, or Softpro is preferred but not required.
