JOB SUMMARY:

The On-call Facility Worker, under the general supervision of the Foreperson, performs routine facility housekeeping, custodial services, snow removal, grounds services, room cleanliness and set/tear down functions in order to provide a superior experience for LEPFA properties and equipment pertaining to the operations of LEPFA’s facilities and events.

ESSENTIAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for housekeeping, interior/exterior custodial services, grounds services, room cleanliness and event set-up/tear-down as indicated on the banquet event work orders (BEO).

2. Assists with directing the work activities of On-call Facility Workers in the absence of a full-time Facility Worker or Foreperson.

3. Assists in maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment for employees and ensures compliance with all LEPFA policies, applicable OSHA standards and local, state, and federal laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

4. Responsible for assisting with accurate and timely inventory control measures for custodial and housekeeping equipment and supplies.

5. Responsible for assisting with maintaining and utilizing all housekeeping, custodial and room/event set-up tools, equipment and supplies in proper safe working condition.

6. Assists in maintaining safe, orderly and neat maintenance of designated supply and equipment storage areas.

7. Assists in the hands-on training of facility personnel in accordance with established organizational and departmental guidelines and procedures.

8. Assists with regular inspections and review of facility and equipment and shares findings and observations with supervisors to assist in maintaining a superior level of facility function, polish, and efficiency.

9. Responsible for ensuring safe operating condition of all facilities’ tools, machinery, equipment, methods and materials related to the Operations Department and LEPFA’s facilities guidelines.

10. Responsible for correctly wearing safety equipment and operating all equipment safely within manufacturer’s guidelines.

11. Responsible for checking at for possible hazards and equipment malfunctions.

12. Responsible for review and recommendations for equipment, materials and supplies required to provide housekeeping, custodial, and set up and tear down services.

13. Ability to read, interpret and acquire the necessary information from banquet event work orders to ensure clients receive requested services within specified time frames.

14. Performs set up and tear down of tables, chairs, stage, and other necessary equipment in order to complete required room sets as directed.

15. Responsible for positively assisting customers, general public, and other departments to coordinate delivery of daily operational services.

16. Responsible for proper utilization and knowledge of tools, methods, and materials related to the Operation’s Facility Department.

17. Participate in committees and meetings as assigned.

18. Knowledge of general and preventative maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment and building management system.

19. Position requires irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

20. Maintain communication channels with all internal departments and operations as needed.

21. Knowledge and adherence to all LEPFA administrative policies, procedures, rules and programs as well as the same for the Operations Department.

22. Performs all other duties as assigned.

MARGINAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Familiar with the Greater Lansing Region for improved service.

2. Responsible for researching new innovations, improvements in procedures, and developments within the industry to improve efficiency, levels of service, performance, and reduction in costs.

3. Knowledge of recycling materials and organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in custodial services, housekeeping and/or special event set up/tear down.

  • Understanding of basic housekeeping terms
  • Understanding of basic custodial terms
  • Responsible for routine maintenance and repair of operational services equipment
  • Basic knowledge of rigging standards and safety
  • Basic knowledge of commercial building and trades skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of routing facilities grounds keeping
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of plumbing
  • Basic mechanical ability to perform repairs on a variety of operational services equipment
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of general and preventative maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment and building management systems
  • Ability to perform basic math skills
  • Ability to operate a tractor/plow
  • Ability to assist with snow and ice removal
  • Able to accurately and safely use hand/power tools

4. Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform duties in an outdoor, golf course setting
  • Ability to withstand performance of job functions in inclement and adverse weather conditions
  • Exposure to oil, greases, solvents and other chemicals that may be hazardous
  • Exposure to cold, ice, snow, heat, rain, dust, noise, fumes, chemicals, food allergens, outdoor and environmental allergens
