The Lansing School District's Adult Education program serves over 400 learners, emphasizing the belief in never too late to pursue big dreams by offering diverse opportunities for educational advancement, including GED, High School Diploma completion, ESL, Career Pathways, and the WIOA Youth Program. To further this mission, the district is hiring an Adult Basic Education (ABE)/GED teacher to provide a holistic and supportive classroom experience for adult learners.

Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
- A major/minor degree in one or more of the areas covered on the GED® exam preferred
- Demonstrated interest/experience in working with adult students
- Technology proficiency
- Ability to foster an effective learning environment for multiple age and skill levels
- Ability to implement multiple teaching methods, styles, and materials
- To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff
- Provide high quality instruction that supports and aligns to the State of Michigan and the district's educational vision and mission
- Responsible for teaching Adult Basic Education or High School Completion courses using instructional methods geared toward the adult learner in a classroom setting. An ideal candidate would be flexible and able to switch gears to teach toward different skill levels, subject matter, and student ability.
- Facilitate an environment that fosters the learning of all students
- Utilize educational technology to support student’s instruction and learning
- Develop and deliver daily lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies to ensure learners meet or exceed earning targets
- Analysis of real-time data pertaining to student learning
- Responsible for tracking student progress and communicating to students and administration
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, peers, and community
- Follow policies and procedures outlined by the Supervisor
- To work cooperatively with other teaching and support staff
