The Director of Student Success will serve as a key member of the Deputy Superintendent of Schools leadership team. This role focuses on fostering student success, equity and inclusion across all district schools and programs through data analysis, leadership in multicultural education initiatives, and delivering professional development to administrators and teachers on fostering inclusive environments across the school landscape. The Director will work collaboratively with district leaders, school principals, district staff, and the community to promote equitable outcomes and culturally responsive practices.

Qualifications - Education
- Master's degree in education or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of formal school leadership positions (Principal level)
- Experience working in an urban district with a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering success, equity and inclusion in the K-12 context with the ability to lead diverse teams, manage programs, and implement policy changes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of culturally responsive teaching, restorative practices, and equity-driven instructional leadership.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Collaboration: Work closely with school principals, central office leaders, and community stakeholders to support inclusive practices that improve student outcomes and build an equitable educational environment.
- Community Engagement: Build and strengthen partnerships with community organizations, parents, and external stakeholders to support the district's goals.
- Serve on the District's Consultation Team: Collaborate with district leaders as a member of the Consultation Team to provide input and guidance on district-wide decisions, policies, and initiatives with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Serve on the Multicultural Education Task Force and its committees: Attend district-wide meetings and support co-chairs in implementing and evaluating initiatives that advance multicultural education.
- Quality Review: participate in district Quality review process including data review and action planning with school administrators.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with district leaders on the development and implementation of equitable policies, programs, and practices that address systemic disparities.
- Track and Analyze Student Discipline Data: Monitor and analyze data related to student discipline, including suspension rates, office referrals, and disparities in disciplinary actions across different student demographics, to identify trends and implement strategies that promote equitable disciplinary practices.
- Hold monthly meetings with principals to review discipline data and support strategies for equitable practices.
- Collaborate with district and school level teams to align data insights with effective interventions and equitable outcomes.
- Utilize the district's Student Information System (SIS), MI School Data, dashboards, and other data portals to collect, analyze, and interpret data on discipline, academic performance, and equity indicators.
- Design, coordinate, schedule, and facilitate professional development sessions, with a focus on culturally responsive positive behavioral intervention strategies/practices, equity-driven instructional strategies, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of new educators.
- Lead and support teachers through professional development sessions that emphasize student success, inclusion, equity, and instructional effectiveness.
