Systems Administrator

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a system administrator. System administrators are the defenders of the digital world, responsible for keeping servers and networks secure and efficient. They're the frontline defenders against cyber threats and the architects of smooth operations. • Minimum associate degree in a Technical Field or Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix or Microsoft.

• Minimum of three years of experience in educational data analysis or a related role.
• Experience with MTSS and CRPBIS frameworks.
• Proficiency in data management systems and tools.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Knowledge of educational assessment tools and data interpretation.
• Ability to train and support staff in data utilization.

• Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, or Unix.
• Install and configure software applications and updates across the organization's systems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels on servers and cloud systems.
• Provide technical support to end-users, addressing issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
• Respond to security incidents and breaches, investigate root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
• Create and maintain documentation for common issues and solutions to facilitate self-service support for users.
• Work may include evenings and weekends, occasionally with little advanced notice.
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from colleagues, managers, and professional development sessions.
• Build relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a safe, welcoming, and collaborative work environment.
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission.​

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting and computer use. Occasional walking or standing within an office or school building to retrieve files, assist visitors, or attend meetings. Frequent verbal and written communication using phone, email, and in-person interactions. Daily use of office technology including computers, printers, and phones. May occasionally lift or move materials or packages weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
