Farm Educator Gardener for Outdoor School Children's Farm
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Educator Gardener to join our team at Carpinteria Children's Farm. The ideal candidate will be passionate about plants and landscaping, with experience in the following areas:
- Teach educational gardening lessons to small groups of children
- Ability to write and implement hands-on gardening lessons curriculum development for elementary-aged children
- Planning activities to involve children in farming responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for horticulture and teaching children
- Running irrigation and sprinkler lines
- Monitoring plant growth and being in charge of water/irrigating plants as needed
- Experience maintaining avocado trees
- Organic weed and pest control
- Crop rotation planning, and managing growth of crops
- Maintaining grounds by mowing, fertilizing, composting
- Operating power tools and hand tools for landscaping projects
- Assist in landscape maintenance including mulching and trimming
- Collaborating with the team to ensure the overall upkeep of the garden and grounds
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to delegate tasks and lead volunteers
- Responsible for using the company debit card to purchase all of the animal tack and feed/hay for the farm animals on a regular basis
- Possibility of adding on extra, distance (at-home) hours for grant writing - up to 5 hours a week
This position would require between 10 to 15 hours per week, preferably between the hours of 11 AM to 3 PM
This position requires a LiveScan and US work authorization.
