Summary:
As the Associate Director of Operational Excellence, you will play a crucial role in driving the culture of continuous improvement throughout our organization. You will lead and inspire a team of professionals and collaborate with various departments to identify opportunities for streamlining processes, reducing waste, and increasing productivity. Your efforts will directly impact our bottom line and help us maintain our competitive edge in the market.
The Associate Director of Operational Excellence will work with cross-functional stakeholders to identify key opportunities in the areas of Quality, Cost and Service which align to our overall corporate strategies. This strategic leader is an advocate for future operational improvements by emphasizing system thinking and establishes the means to efficiently acquire and analyze timely process performance information to drive improvement.
Essential Functions
- Drive Operational Excellence philosophies, employing the principles of TPS and other industry best practices through organizational learning with the goal of making significant cultural changes.
- Implement Lean management practices such as Visual Management, Leader Standard Work, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Structured Problem-Solving techniques.
- Develop and lead the implementation of the improvement plans, which includes: identifying opportunities; defining and financially justifying projects; negotiating resources; launching cross-functional project teams; using good project management to manage team activities; training and coaching of Lean/Six Sigma resources assigned to the team; leading teams to execute projects with problem solving methodology; tracking project status and results; anticipating and removing project barriers; and developing team members.
- Assure that appropriate measurement systems are in place before launching improvement initiatives to objectively quantify improvements
- Contribute knowledge and ideas to improve upon current processes resulting in reduced cycle times, improved quality, increased cost savings and uptime.
- Develop required Lean/Six Sigma Training materials and templates as required to accomplish the goals.
- Actively demonstrate the Lantheus values of accountability, communication, customer commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, safety, and teamwork.
Key Deliverables:
- Perform meaningful gap assessments of current organization performance versus best-in-class relative to Lean philosophies practices and processes, to establish improvement tactical roadmap and priorities.
- Monitor and support projects from start to finish and effectively report the progress and improvements achieved to personnel of varying levels. The position requires an ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with cross-functional personnel to perpetuate a culture dedicated to providing innovative solutions and continuous improvements.
- Develop analytical tools and reports, determine process performance baselines, maintain process performance measurements, and statistically analyze metrics to identify areas for process improvement.
- Effectively communicate the strategy and results to the organization while driving a culture of continuous improvement /operational excellence.
- Develop Lessons Learned and Best Practice systems policies and procedures to leverage knowledge across multiple areas within the company.
- Engage key functional leaders to establish priorities for waste reduction and process optimization.
- Produce reports and plans of action utilizing Lean principals including Visual Management, Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, Value Streams Maps, Ishikawa, SMED and SIPOC to improve productivity, increase process efficiencies, and reduce costs.
- Deliver formal and informal training on key Lean and CI tools including Visual Management, Leader Standard Work, 5S, Waste Elimination, Value Stream Mapping and Structured Problem-Solving techniques.
- Lead improvement teams utilizing lean techniques, Six Sigma methodology, project management, team training and key metric performance tracking.
Education and Skills Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma Black belt preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in process improvement, continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Background and experience in operations analysis, using data to drive business results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Minimal travel may be required to support sites outside of the Billerica Massachusetts campus.
