What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal/Legal Secretary position at LAPEROUSE PATIN, LLC?
Growing Baton Rouge, Louisiana business and construction law firm has an opening for a paralegal/legal secretary to work on interesting litigation matters. The position will work directly with our attorneys to prepare for cases, get involved in fact-finding projects, calendar important deadlines, and be responsible for developing and maintaining an index system for all case files. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping us meet all of our clients’ needs. Previous experience as a paralegal and/or legal secretary is a plus. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies, or significant experience as a paralegal. Must be a self-starter and have strong attention to detail, as well as excellent communication, legal research and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and in using legal database software. Must have a stable work tenure. Industry recognized certification from organizations such as NALA or AACP not required, but preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Create reports for attorneys based on case specifications and attorney requests
- Work with attorneys to develop legal arguments, motions and other case filings
- Legal research and drafting of correspondence
- Calendaring deadlines
- Some clerical work
- Organization of litigation files and documents
