What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Brake Operator - 2nd shift - Metal Fabrication position at Lapham-Hickey Steel?
Purpose/Summary:
Perform duties necessary to fabricate material according to customer specifications using press brake. In addition, the Press Brake Operator is responsible for proper set-up, communication with preceding and following shifts, and monitoring equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proficiently operate and program any of the brakes at this facility.
- To be proficient on their machine and understand the geometry of forming and programming the machines.
- Clearly understand the prints supplied and to work with CAD when a more defined print is required.
- Helping schedule maintenance for the machines, troubleshoot minor issues, and make sure tooling inventory is properly managed.
- Work with CAD dept to maintain the brake program files on the server and ensure that there is only “ONE” program for each part number per machine
- Able to have prints and routers updated to allow for all programming AND tooling information to be supplied on the print and routers.
- Perform first piece inspections of parts as they come off the brakes, and spot check parts to ensure continued quality.
- Able to successfully use the AS400, complete paperwork, and complete production reports.
- Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices. This regards to individual safety, the safety of other employees, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace.
- Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor, lead person or management.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
- A minimum of one (1) year previous press brake work experience is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand measuring tools and equipment such as a tape measure, calipers and micrometer.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to perform math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions as well as convert fractions to decimals or vice versa.
- Ability to recognize and interpret colors according to the company’s classification system.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, as well as lift and move heavier objects with the assistance of cranes, forklifts, or another employee.
- Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.
- Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
We are offering a new flex start time! New hires can choose a start time between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. These individuals will work a 10 hour shift Monday through Thursday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
