About LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church:
LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church is a loving, Bible-centered community located in the heart of Illinois’ picturesque rural countryside, just 25 minutes northeast of Peoria. For over 180 years, we have been a beacon of hope and service to our community and beyond. We are passionate about living out Christ’s teachings, serving others, and growing together in faith.
We are currently seeking a full-time pastor to help guide and shepherd our congregation. We are looking for someone who is eager to lead, teach, and nurture a community deeply committed to faith, mission, and outreach. If you are someone who values strong relationships, spiritual growth, and impactful service, we would love to connect with you.
Our Mission:
Our church is more than a place of worship; we are a force for good in our local and global communities. We believe in Bible-based preaching, prayer, and active mission work. Some of our ongoing initiatives include:
- Snack Pak Project: Providing weekend meals for over 100 students in need at Midland District #7.
- Quilting Group: Donates over 1,500 lap quilts annually to nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, and even international organizations.
- Christmas Stocking Project: Delivering around 200 Christmas stockings filled with essential items to local nursing homes and community programs.
- Vacation Bible School: Hosting an annual VBS that serves over 50 children while collecting donations for our local food pantry.
Role & Responsibilities:
As our next pastor, you will be responsible for:
- Preaching engaging, Bible-based sermons on Sundays that inspire spiritual growth.
- Providing pastoral care to our congregation, including visiting the sick, shut-ins, and those in need of counseling.
- Leading Bible studies and other educational programs for all age groups.
- Actively participating in mission work locally, regionally, and globally.
- Collaborating with our session of elders, church staff, and volunteers to enhance existing ministries and develop new outreach opportunities.
- Shepherding and guiding our vibrant youth programs and helping our congregation grow in faith and fellowship.
Qualifications:
- Experience in pastoral ministry is preferred, but not required.
- Applicants must be aligned with ECO (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) policy and willing to engage with the denomination.
- A heart for pastoral care and community engagement.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire and guide a diverse congregation.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships within the church and broader community.
Compensation & Benefits:
